How the Bail Process Works in North Carolina

A clear, step-by-step explanation of what happens after an arrest — and how we help at every stage.
You won’t navigate this process alone. We’re here at every step.
  • 1. Arrest & Booking

After an arrest, the individual is taken to a county detention center for booking, which includes fingerprints, photographs, and basic information.

  • 2. Bond Is Set by a Magistrate

A magistrate reviews the charges and determines the bond amount based on the situation and applicable guidelines.

  • 3. Contact Us 24/7

Once bond is set, contact us immediately. We gather the details, explain your options, and move quickly to avoid delays.

  • 4. Complete the Paperwork

Paperwork can be completed online or in person — whichever option is fastest and most convenient for you.

  • 5. Make a Payment

Payments are handled securely through Bailbooks or in person. We explain all costs clearly before proceeding.

  • 6. We Post the Bond

Once everything is completed, we post the bond with the detention center and work to secure release as quickly as possible.

  • 7. Attend All Court Dates

Court appearances are required. We provide reminders and ongoing support to help prevent missed dates.
